Week 5 was an amazing week of football, with thrilling finishes, surprising performances, and plenty of movement in the NFL landscape. With five weeks in the books, we're starting to see which teams are built to contend and which still have something to prove. So, after evaluating the results, statistics, and performances from around the league, here are my Top 5 NFL Teams Going Into Week 6, plus one honorable mention. Let's get into it!

No. 5 — Buffalo Bills (4–1)

The Buffalo Bills narrowly escaped with a 37–34 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Rams in a game that had plenty of drama. Josh Allen accounted for 331 total yards, including 121 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, while James Cook contributed 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Bills showed resilience in a game that could have gone either way, and Greg Rousseau's blocked field goal in overtime helped keep their chances alive. However, despite the win, Buffalo still has some concerns to address.

One of my biggest concerns is ball security. Cook fumbled twice against the Rams, including once in overtime, and the Bills were fortunate that the mistake did not cost them the game. Allen's recent interceptions are another thing to monitor, with four interceptions over the three-game stretch you're highlighting. Allen's ability to make plays with his legs is a major advantage, but Buffalo needs to protect the football more consistently. I believe this team has the talent to move higher in my rankings, but until the turnovers become less of a problem, I can't put the Bills any higher.

No. 4 — Baltimore Ravens (4–1)

The Baltimore Ravens deserve credit for finding a way to win despite being without Lamar Jackson. Baltimore defeated the Atlanta Falcons 30–23 in overtime, showing that this team can fight through adversity when its starting quarterback is unavailable. Derrick Henry helped lead the offense with 102 rushing yards, while Tyler Huntley stepped in at quarterback. This was an important win for Baltimore, especially against a Falcons team that had scored at least 30 points in each of its previous two games.

Still, Lamar Jackson's health is the biggest storyline I will be watching. The Ravens proved they can compete without him, but keeping their franchise quarterback healthy is essential to their chances of making a deep playoff run. This was a good win to build on, and Baltimore should feel encouraged by the way it responded to adversity. Going forward, though, I want to see how the Ravens perform as they navigate Jackson's injury and face their next opponents.

No. 3 — Minnesota Vikings (5–0)

The Minnesota Vikings continue to impress, and their defense is a major reason why they remain undefeated. In their 23–13 win over the New Orleans Saints, Minnesota's defense made life difficult for quarterback Tyler Shough and kept the Saints' offense from finding a consistent rhythm. The Vikings have allowed just 12.8 points and 259.8 total yards per game, putting them among the league's best defensive teams. Byron Murphy Jr. has also made his presence felt with three interceptions. Hats off to Brian Flores for getting this defense to play at such a high level. Flores deserves serious consideration for another head coaching opportunity.

What makes Minnesota especially interesting is the potential of its offense. Kyler Murray is looking more comfortable with each game, and it is important to remember that we are still only three games into his time playing with this team. As he becomes more familiar with the offensive playbook, his connection with Justin Jefferson could become a major problem for opposing defenses. Jefferson is already an elite receiver, and a fully comfortable Murray could help unlock even more of his potential. If the offense starts contributing more consistently alongside this defense, the Vikings could become one of the most complete teams in the NFL.

No. 2 — Kansas City Chiefs (4–0)

The Kansas City Chiefs did not play in Week 5, but that does not mean they should fall in these rankings. Kansas City enters its bye week undefeated at 4–0, giving the team a chance to rest, review its performances, and prepare for the second half of the early-season schedule. With Patrick Mahomes leading the offense and Andy Reid directing the team, the Chiefs have the experience and talent to remain among the NFL's top contenders.

One benefit of this bye week is the opportunity for players to recover and get healthier. That could be especially valuable as Kansas City manages the health of players such as Rashee Rice and Josh Simmons. There is not much new to criticize or praise from a game that the Chiefs did not play, so I am not going to overanalyze their week off. For now, their undefeated record and overall quality keep them at No. 2. The real test will be how they look when they return to the field.

No. 1 — San Francisco 49ers (5–0)

The San Francisco 49ers take the top spot after a thrilling 32–29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. San Francisco improved to 5–0 by forcing four turnovers and making key plays when the game was on the line. Brock Purdy connected with Mike Evans for seven receptions, 113 receiving yards, and a touchdown, giving the offense a reliable target in a close divisional matchup. The 49ers have shown that they can capitalize on opponents' mistakes and deliver in crucial moments, which is a big reason why I have them at No. 1.

The personal takeaway for me is just how good the Mike Evans pickup is looking. Bringing Evans in through free agency has given San Francisco a true top receiving option, and his performance against Seattle showed why that move could be so important. Evans brings size, experience, strong hands, and the ability to make difficult catches in tight coverage. He already looks like a major part of this offense, and his connection with Purdy could become even more dangerous as the season continues. If Evans keeps producing at this level while the 49ers continue winning, San Francisco will be a tough team for anybody to deal with.

Honorable Mention — Jacksonville Jaguars (4–1)

The Jacksonville Jaguars deserve recognition after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 19–17 in London, with Cam Little delivering the game-winning field goal. Trevor Lawrence threw for 331 yards, showing that Jacksonville can move the football through the air. The Jaguars also deserve credit for taking advantage of the opportunity that presented itself late in the game. A comeback win is still a win, and Jacksonville deserves credit for staying in the fight and finding a way to finish.

However, I have the Jaguars just outside my top five because I want to see a more complete performance from start to finish. Despite Lawrence's passing numbers, Jacksonville was relatively quiet for much of the game and did not really turn things up until the fourth quarter. The Jaguars also had opportunities to take control earlier but struggled to convert them. A coaching mistake by Philadelphia helped open the door, but that does not take away from Jacksonville capitalizing when it mattered. Still, I want to see the Jaguars put together four stronger quarters before moving them into the top five. They have the talent to crack my top five, but now they need to show they can put together a complete performance.
